Our Services

Reclamation & Restoration Planning

Abnova Ecological Solutions provides custom plans that go beyond simply satisfying regulatory compliance criteria. We strive to understand the desires of stakeholders involved and promote efforts to build food webs, supporting pollinators and other wildlife. Ultimately, our goal in all reclamation & restoration projects is to create healthy and functional ecosystems which provide a vast array of services to benefit man and nature.

Reclamation & Restoration Monitoring and Reporting

Abnova's Dr. Michael Curran pioneered the use of spatially balanced sampling and imagery (handheld and drone) to improve monitoring of reclaimed sites. These techniques range from 10-40x faster than traditional methods while improving data quality. Curran also pioneered the use of spatially-explicit dashboards to provide rapid and easy to understand reports, while greatly improving decision management associated with restoration projects.

Pollinator & Wildlife Monitoring

Aside from laying out reclamation and restoration plans to promote pollinator and wildlife habitat, Abnova Ecological Solutions is able to provide services monitoring insects and other wildlife. Dr. Curran developed a technique to use 3-D video cameras as a non-lethal monitoring tool to count insects and has vast experience with other insect sampling techniques. In addition, Abnova has the ability to utilize drones and other remote sensing technologies to monitor larger wildlife.

Conservation Bank Planning, Monitoring, & Habitat Assessment

In 2018, Curran transitioned handheld image monitoring and spatially balanced sampling designs successfully into a monitoring system to quantify sage-grouse habitat quality for a conservation banking project. The combination of technology and ecological expertise allows for major reductions in time & cost of field data collection and rapid report generation to quantify habitat quality with robust data sets.

Ecological Services, Statistical Consulting, GIS, Drone & Remote Sensing Services

Abnova Ecological Solutions is able to provide a wide array of services outside of restoration, conservation, and monitoring. We have access to greenhouse space for conducting experiments and have expertise in ecological study design & environmental statistics. Additionally, we are well trained in GIS and Remote Sensing and have the ability to utilize drones for a wide variety of purposes.

ESG Consulting focused on Environment & Governance

Ecological know-how allows Abnova Ecological Solutions to develop plans to improve company-wide environmental practices. Statistical skills allow these improvements to be tracked, analyzed, reported and quantified. We understand how to set baselines, benchmarks, and targets in both space and time. Furthermore, our expertise in building land-use plans to support ecosystem services allows us to create multi-faceted goals to improve the environment, improve decision making, and eliminate inefficiencies.

Abnova Ecological Solutions combines ecological expertise with spatial and quantitative knowledge to provide customized solutions to a variety of ecological & environmental challenges.  While our passion lies in restoring ecosystem services and functionality to degraded lands, we are set up to provide a vast array of services  related to soil, vegetation, habitat assessment, regulatory compliance, wildlife monitoring and more.
